Not sure why the Committee thought this was 1918. Looks like the 1914 uniform (Daubert played for Brooklyn in both years). exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/unif... Also, this seems almost identical to www.flickr.com/photos/library_of_congress/5517545366/ dated 1914 on the glass negative.

Not that it's probably needed, but: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoeless_Joe_Jackson 1919 was the season of the scandal.

Picture is dated 10-1-17, when Sox were at the Polo Grounds to play Yankees. www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA191710010.shtml Sox Uniform matches 1917 road uniform. exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/unif... Striped road uniform not used in 1919. Comiskey had a concrete dugout, but with sharply sloped roof, unlike the Polo Grounds dugout. LOC: I think Pictorial History Committee should re-examine this and the surrounding photos, and check if this one should be redated to 1917.

I took the caption's word for it, but this article backs up Art Siegel: haulsofshame.com/blog/?p=798

Thanks Art Siegel! We've also consulted with the Society for American Baseball Research, so we can correct the date for this and about 20 other items. Well done!

Interesting that Jackson is photographed wearing a catcher's mitt considering that Jackson played almost exclusively in the outfield throughout his Major League career (spare for the 30 games he played at First Base for the Cleveland Indians in 1915) . www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/jacksjo01.shtml
