Thanks Harry, for providing more information about George Walbridge Perkins. The library has another photograph of him taken in Washington, D.C. around 1911. Do you think that is the Capitol building behind him and his daughter in this photograph? If so, it would mean that it was taken around the same time.

Dorothy died in 1990, at the age of 99, and had in 1960 given the Perkins family's huge estate in Riverdale, New York to the city. This photograph shows the modified dome that was added to the Capitol during the Civil War era, at the same time that new House and Senate chambers were also constructed. Credit should be given above to the American architect Thomas Ustick Walter, who designed the dome and the expanded wings of the building. Susan Barsy, PhD
