I found an advert in the Irish Times from Wednesday, 6 August 1879 that makes the state of the house in this photograph all the more baffling. Ballyellis House is described as a "Most Desirable Gentlemanly Residence" and "in good order"!!

The parachute jump tower is iconic in Coney Island photos. I've long been curious about it. Sad to see the reality of this structure.
