It occurs to me that the panos are not necessarily limited to two frames - there may be other photos on either side yet to be discovered in the Series 4481 dungeon.

That would appear to be Blues Pt in the background, Ball's Head behind that, and Dawes Pt on the left.

Yes, that book is a wonderful read! Mezz was the only guy who ever tried to "pass" for black.

... now now folks - it was, as i recall, the mez, who aside from harry (the hipster) gibson who "gauged the age, so to speak.

Trumpeter Bunk Johnson at left; guitarist/composer/blues singer Leadbelly at right. Clarinetist George Lewis seen sitting at bottom left; string bass player Alcide "Slow Drag" Pavageau in background behind Leadbelly's microphone. This is the band of New Orleans musicians assembled by Bunk and Bill Russell in New Orleans when Bunk came out of retirement and which he later took up to New York City, with Leadbelly added.
