Cleveland Indians' catcher Steve O'Neil photographed at Ebbets Field during the 1920 World Series. Note the black mourning band on the left sleeve of O'Neill's uniform. The black arm band on the Indians' uniforms was worn in memory of former teammate Ray Chapman (1891-1920), who died earlier in the 1920 baseball season in August after being struck in the head by a pitch thrown by Yankees' pitcher Carl Mays during a game at the Polo Grounds. Chapman remains the only player to die as a result of an in-game injury suffered during a Major League Baseball game.
