Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Thoroughbred Horse Racing, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

What a day that must of been

Golden Chimes was not born until 1911, and died in 1915....that would date this photo between 1913 & 1915. He was a son of Voter, out of a mare named Adelbert Belle (by imported Albert), bred in Kentucky by Catesby Woodford.
  • Ryan (LOC P&P) said:
Thanks for the clarification of the date range spotsboslow. We'll add the information to the record next time we update it.

Is the image flipped or are they running in the opposite direction?

If Eleanor Robson Belmont is in this photo, I think Bain may have misplaced his "X" - the woman at far left looks more like the photo included in her Wikipedia entry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleanor_Robson_Belmont Assuming this was taken ca. 1910, she would have been in her early 30s.

rockcreek: Looks like you are correct. We will make a note of it in the source data and reload the description.

It may be worth double-checking if the woman at center is Mrs. August Belmont Sr. - perhaps she was still alive at the time? I'm not able to find an image of her online at the moment.

Or might be the wife of the third August Belmont (1882-1919), married in 1906:

    is Mrs August Belmont, III
See Bain photo (with comments) that is probably of her, captioned Mrs. A Belmont, Jr.: Mrs. A. Belmont Jr. (LOC)
