Could be en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Henry_Dietz Photo looks a possible match. He played football for the Carlisle Industrial School, but there seems to have been some controversy over whether he was really an American Indian. He was known as Lone Star Dietz. From Wikipedia, "In spring 1933, George Preston Marshall, owner of the Boston Braves, hired Dietz to replace Coach Lud Wray. Marshall then came up with a new name: the “Boston Redskins.” In 1937, the team moved to Washington, D.C."

A Katherine Small is mentioned occasionally in the society columns around this time. For example, the [Washington, DC], Evening Star. March 24, 1914, Page 7, column 5, middle chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83045462/1914-03-24/ed-... she was a guest at a dinner for "young people" given by Josephus Daniels, Jr., son of the Secretary of the Navy. The Evening Chronicle from Charlotte, North Carolina. June 4, 1910, Page 6 www.newspapers.com/newspage/59338476/ mentions "Katherine Small and Mary Belle Small, of Washington." See ancestors.familysearch.org/en/KH6K-M1M/john-humphrey-smal... for her father, giving her birth in 1893 and death in 1990.

St. Mary's Muse, an alumnae magazine from 1918-19 of St. Mary's School, in Raleigh, NC. archive.org/details/stmarysmuse19181919sain/page/n31/mode... indicates that Katherine and Mary Belle had a brother (Lt. John Small) in the service and that Katherine had a husband in the service, Major J. S. Gaul. That leads to Katherine Sanderson Small Gaul (wife of John Stuart Gaul) www.findagrave.com/memorial/69242912/katherine-sanderson-... No photographic confirmation, but a good candidate for this young lady.
