Eugene Franklin "Bubbles" Hargrave (July 15, 1892 – February 23, 1969) was an American catcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and New York Yankees. He won the National League batting title in 1926 while playing for Cincinnati. Bubbles' younger brother, Pinky Hargrave, was also a major league catcher. I wonder who came up with those nicknames...

Another issue is why so many of the 1914 A's and Braves pictures are tagged as being in the Polo Grounds, when they were World Series opponents that year in games played at Fenway Park and Shibe Park. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1914_World_Series The dark uniforms of the Braves are their 1914 road uniforms, so why would it not be assumed these were taken at Shibe in Philly? exhibits.baseballhalloffame.org/dressed_to_the_nines/deta...

Art Siegel After looking at tons of photos of the Polo Grounds, there are some identifiable characteristics of the ballpark that enable one to identify the ballpark as the Polo Grounds with a considerable degree of certainty. Some of those include the fencing and seating along the backstop, the cement dividers of the box seats, the three parallel wood runners that line the backwall of the dugouts, the arrangement of the columns holding up the upper deck, the advertisements along the outfield wall, and, after the fire, the unique facing on the outside of the ballpark's second deck. You will also note that a number of the baseball photos in the Bain photostream were taken at the Yankees' former home field at Hilltop Park, and (then new) Ebbets Field. This is largely due to George Grantham Bain, and the Bain offices themselves, being based in New York City. Also, in 1914, both the New York Yankees and New York Giants played at the Polo Grounds. This is another reason why there are photos of American League and National League visiting teams and players at the ballpark.
