When I first saw this photograph, it struck me for half a second. The way his face seems so chiseled, what with his clearly distinguished ears, eyes, and lips just captivate the viewer. His expression is so relaxed but cool at the same time. I really like it!

Best match; John Thompson [d.17 Jan 1915] Rgt No.1007 The CWGC website records Thompson John Argyle & Sutherland Higlanders Age23 Date of Death 17th January 1915 Son of the late James and Archina Thompson, born at Stirling. Commemorated on panel 42 & 44 Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial From Ancesty.com [which seems to have a problem with information from Scotland for some rubbish reason [get a grip, Scotland]] The 1901 census records him as a 9 year old child living with his parents James [aged 47] and Archina [aged 43], his older sisters Archina [aged 13] and his younger sisters Janet [aged 7] and Ivy [aged 5] at Manor Street, Falkirk.

According to the Scottish National War Memorial he has an 'informal will from Pay Book" dated 23 Dec 1914 viewable in the Scottish National Archives.

Regimental number suggests he joined the A&S Highlanders around 29th July 1912. Arrived in France & Flanders on the 19th December 1914.
