The Sydney Regatta flagship shown is one of the Aberdeen Line's ships, either the Miltiades (built in 1903) or sister Marathon (1904). The photo was taken between 1904 and 1912 when both ships were taken out of service to be lengthened and given a second (dummy) funnel. Both were transferred to the Pacific S N Co's South American service in 1922 and renamed, but scrapped just two years later.
