    I believe this shop was used into the 70's by Santa Fe. I've read this location conducted a major rebuilding program on some of Santa Fe's post war diesel electric locomotives, extending their service life into the late 80's.

    In the early 1950's this engine was sold to Temple Lumber Co. in Pineland TX, where it retained its 1140 number. It was rendered useless there in an engine house fire late in the same decade. As a boy growing up in Pineland in the 1960's I spent many an hour playing on its burned-out hulk, which survives today in a north Louisiana museum.
