Museums of History NSW - State Archives Collection Held at the former RAS Showgrounds at Moore Park. Now the site of Fox Studios and the Entertainment Quarter. Frankly I preferred the showgrounds at this site. The current site at Homebush is soul-less

I have to agree with you there John... I have fond memories of visiting the Show at Moore Park.

I don't mind the new venue - but I do mind that there is now nothing to see at the show compared to what it was like when it was at Moore Park.

Albert Alcoceba samdefranc Yes, 'going to the Show' was one of the highlights of the year for the family. We always went as a family on the Thursday before Easter. It was a half day at school, so I'd catch the tram across the bridge to my father's office in the city and meet meet my parents there. Then we'd go out the Showground by tram or bus, look at the exhibits and stay for the ring events. It was a late night by the time we got home, but Friday wasn't a school-day so I was allowed a sleep-in. Ahhh the simple joys of a baby boomer in the 50s and 60s!

I remember the big black sign board, centre of picture, with a gantry that was lowered whilst signwriters repainted in colour paint the coming events of the day in the ring. I think that was still going in the 1970's.
