I am sure that this is a quarter plate daguerre type. It is not on tin but a copper plate. Bright objects show up with a copper tint. The surface of the photo reflects like a mirror and the tints are seen from the light in the surroundings. See my daguerotype. www.flickr.com/photos/wl-bregar/334759161/in/set-72157594...
