Chicago's Great Telescope

    This was the biggest Refracting telescope (i.e. using lenses, not mirrors) when it was built, I think it still is, but reflecting telescopes and other devices made refractors somewhat cumbersome devices to use and maintain. It is still housed at the University of Chicago but largely redundant now. I think it was constructed by Alvin Clark & Sons.
