    The girl in the front appears to be knitting the British way with the yarn in her right hand. That's interesting, I would have thought they would be knitting continental style, the "german" way in the Netherlands.

    Dutch knitters are almost all "english style" knitters. Some people say that the German style was banned because of the wars and the bad reputation of the Germans back then. Just recently people start to knit continental again... there's a whole revival going through knitting-land.
