Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Historic Sydney, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

The identification of the locations in the background of this photo is non-obvious. Where is the CBD, I was thinking. And then I was trying to make out landmarks at goat island or east balmain. Actually, the view is looking east from McMahons Point and the cbd is out of shot on the right.

Mich have a look at history.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/sydneystreets/Minding_the... which shows indeed the photo looking east south east, and the Circular Quay is off the photo on the right.
