See notes on photo. Tractor is a bit fuzzy on Megazoom but looks like a Fordson Major. Exhaust pipe is outside bonnet on LH side. Dextas came through bonnet. Good write up on Railbuses if you click on above picture.

Niall McAuley Last time I saw that one it was in Mallow. My sister borrowed a toy cat off me and accidentally left it in the cab, and even now, the sight of this engine still makes me sad.

According to books.google.com/books?id=Sm8TTHRwSCMC&pg=PA26&lp..., the engine stood there until 1989. www.flickr.com/photos/110691393@N07/11451541876/ www.flickr.com/photos/110691393@N07/11402729174/

It turns out that the winner of all that dosh may not be in Clare after all. The shop that sold the winning ticket is on the Tipperary/Clare border and the West Clare Railway didn't go there, slowly or otherwise! Anyway good luck to whoever won it!

If the photo really was taken in September 1956 (a fine month by the way), the poster for the Dublin Horse Show is out of date should be taken down, as the event opened on Tuesday August 7 and continued up to and including Saturday August 11.
