HENLEY launch (LOC)

    Additional info: U.S.S. Henley, DD-39. Laid down by Fore River Shipbuilding Company, Quincy, MA, on July 17, 1911. Launched April 3, 1912 and commissioned December 6, 1912. Henley was decommissioned at Philadelphia December 12, 1919, and berthed with the reserve fleet until loaned to the Coast Guard as CG-12 on May 16, 1924. Returned May 8, 1931. Stricken July 5, 1934. Sold August 22, 1934, and broken up for scrap.

    And yet if we had kept many more of the ships, there would likely be no place to put them !-) Looks like she was drawing only 4' of water at the bow at launch and expected to draw 7' when complete. Shame we cannot see the full first name of the photographer - my _guess_ would be George W. Lord but that is just a shot in the dark for the first name.
