Hi, I'm an admin for a group called Romanesque Revival Architecture, and we'd love to have this added to the group!

This photo more likely is the porte cochere of the Sylvester T. Everett House on Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. Designed by Charles F. Schweinfurth. See the photo on page 136 of _Showplace of America_ by Jan Cigliano.

Hello bricks&stones. We know you left this comment quite a while ago, but we hope you're still out there! Thanks for the information! I'm passing it along to the cataloger who originally worked on these images.

This is interesting and I'm pleased to have discovered it. The main building of the University seen here was built in stages between 1864 and 1870, I believe. You can see from later images (for example my own recent photographs) that the tower shown here was later significantly added to.

This photograph dates to some time between 1870, when construction was completed for the present buildings, and 1879: when Bute Hall - not here visible - was completed. I hope that's a help

Charles Clegg photo Thanks for letting us know about this! We'll try to have someone at the library take a look at this.

The Hall was by the architect, Sir M. Digby Wyatt, 1870-72. The fireplace, and the stonework of the Hall, were carved by Theodore Phyffers (1821-1876), a Belgian sculptor working in London. Ref: Willis R, Clark JW (1886) The Architectural history of the University of Cambridge and of the colleges of Cambridge and Eton. Cambridge: University Press. p. 116. (The fireplace was removed in 1935, and its whereabouts are unknown).
