BigBean, We agree, but circa 1824 is actually the earliest date that Flickr allows you to enter, probably because of their photography focus. We tried to enter 08/21/1789 or circa 1789, but it won't take. You also can't leave it blank! We put the real production date in the description above (08/21/1789). - Jill (U.S. National Archives)

hmmm, thanks for that info. i wonder if we can get that changed, if only for Commons members.. The National Archives UK have been uploading some amazing ancient documents, which can be dated, to the day, in 1504 and earlier. I'd love to see a Commons timeline feature (or app) that can make use of these dates.
