This is actually much sharper that the other shot though not enough to be definitive about the time which I take to be 1205? but I wouldn't bet on it. The architect/town planner had a great eye for setting off his building to perfection, the line of Georgian houses leading down to the elegant church with clock tower at the end, very nice view.

Aeroplane Disaster? "On 5th July 1912, Captain E.B. Loraine and Staff-Sergeant R.H.V. Wilson were killed near the junction of the A344, A360 and B3086 grid reference SU098429. They were flying a Nieuport Monoplane and when making a tight turn the aeroplane plunged toward the ground and crashed." Edit: Does this billboard say "Daily News and Leader"? The paper was only called that from sometime in 1912, when the Daily News merged with the Morning Leader.

Niall McAuley Just double-checked original, and it is indeed the Daily News & Leader!! So, changing to Circa 1912 for both of these photos. But going to leave the question mark in situ for a wee while longer, though 1912 is looking very promising, especially given your Aeroplane Disaster find above...

I firmly believe that there are no dogs in this photo..........

At the time Larne had a booming incoming tourist trade as it was the gateway to the Glens of Antrim and with a variety of hotels. People from Belfast would go to Larne by train for days out but also there would be visitors on the ferries from Scotland on day trips - Stranraer was only 2 1/2 hours away. This explains the "Irish Souvenir Warehouse" branding which was aimed primarily at Scottish visitors.

Welch's Irish Views. The Robert Welch photographs in Birmingham Central Library form part of the Sir Benjamin Stone Collection; acquired by Benjamin Stone between 1904 and 1906. Archives and Heritage Service hold more than 400 of his photos. Robert Welch, born in 1859, had a photographic studio in Belfast. Though he never married he had many friends who spoke of his helpfulness and generosity, he was described as a 'friend to all the world'. He died in 1936. Robert Welch travelled all over Ireland taking photos of the people and their way of life; he advertised himself as an 'ethnographer'. As a commercial photographer, he sold copies to many different organisations.
