Sheehy-Skeffington has been posted up here previously ...will have a rummage post rummage edit, it was Lilian Metge photo I was thinking of. She was arrested with SS for leafletting

Mrs Sheehy-Skeffington was in the USA in early 1917. The news of her safe arrival in New York City was announced in the Irish Citizen on Jan 6th. The Irish Citizen carried regular news of her visit, and she also wrote pieces as "H.S.S."

They (H.S.S. and her 7-year-old son Owen) were still in America as reported in the Irish Citizen on 3rd March. A speech made at Carnegie Hall gets mentioned quite a lot.

The Belfast News-letter is amazing!

A possible match from May 1st 1914. A Z-Elizabeth rather than S-Elisabeth, but remember Fraser/Frazer. Shes in New York and sounds like the sort of person who would belong in the Sheehy-Skeffington circle of acquaintances.

The reverse says that Clair Marcelle were photographers in NYC and Philadelphia.

I see google hits in 1921, 1937 for "Clair Marcelle" 5th Ave

Niall McAuley And from Library Towers catalogue, and other libraries in the States, Mrs Margaret E. Hickey wrote letters from New York, and specifically Brooklyn.

I think her perm looks 1930s?

That letter is from the digital library at Villanova University. Beautiful clear handwriting. Margaret was obviously well acquainted with Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington.

There is a Margaret Hickey ion the 1940 US census living in New York, West 153rd St., born ~1905 in Ireland. EDIT: (not her)
