Oberhansley was the C.O. of the 82nd Fighter Squadron and named the plane "Iron Ass". Col. Benjamin I. Mayo was the 78th Fighter Group's C.O. and named the plane "No Guts - No Glory".

Republic P-47N Thunderbolt P-47N-15-RE, 44-89444. The P-47D and -N were long-range ground attack fighters, formidable Allied weapons during World War II.

    The aircraft was restored by Ray Stutsman in the 1980s and flew as NX47DG. Following a trip to the UK for a few years, it has since returned to the U.S. under the ownership of Rudy Frasca, registered NX47FG.
