"Godfrey" is Lt. McDonald 'Chan' Godfrey (May 18, 1924 - July 27, 1997). On July 31, 1944, he was shot down by FLAK near Baugge, Belgium, he'd spend the rest of the conflict as a Prisoner of War (POW). His entry at the Imperial War Museum's (IWM) American Air Museum website reads, "Prisoner of War (POW)-07/31/44-04/29/45 After war, joined NYANG- served as pilot, Ops Off & commander. Retired 1979 as colonel, NYANG. Traveled world wide & received many awards . Last assignment involved flying ski equipped C-130's off Greenland ice cap."
