When you see the kids in these century-old photos, and reflect on the fact that the subjects lived their lives - no matter how long they lived - and are gone, you're made to wonder about all that happened in the intervening years... And just think: her great-grandchildren (if indeed she had children; if indeed she lived through the later flu pandemic circa 1918; or survived polio, or measles...) could be browsing through the images in flickr, unaware that she's pictured here, looking out that window at god-knows what sort of miserable industrial vista...

Local Donegal people petitioned the government to help re-open them in 1997 and in 1999 they were making carpets again for places such as Áras an Uachtaráin, Dublin Castle and the University of Notre Dame.
