    Here is the bould Sigerson himself in the 1911 census, a Physician and Professor National University, and at wikipedia, which confirms that the 3rd level GAA Sigerson Cup is named is his honour, what with him having paid for the trophy.

    Interesting history, which explains things - "Between 1867 and 1916 "God Save Ireland" was often referred to as the "Irish national anthem", being habitually sung at gathering of Irish nationalists, both in Ireland and abroad." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Save_Ireland

    The man himself in the census of 1901 and 1911. His occupation is Journalist in both. wikipedia says he was also Lord Mayor of Dublin 1886-88 and an MP from 1880-1900.
