Bridges over the River Tyne, 1952

    Fond memories of Gateshead Railway Station. Used to get the train from Jarrow, mother used to take us kids to Shepard's of Gateshead, the biggest and the best store. Shepard's had a canny cafeteria.

    Would walk from Wallsend to the Quayside Market now & again. Dad would point out the 'finer' points of the river traffic before we watched & were mesmerised by the stall holders selling, well, anything! Just been looking again through Jimmy Forsyth's 'Out of One Eye'. Great stuff
