This must be the Princeton Airport which is still on Rt 206 about four miles north of town. I myself learned to fly at this airport, although it was a summer adventure of ten lessons leading to solo. I didn't continue it after that (busy with school). My dad, a private pilot of many years standing, was anxious for me to do it. A fun and rewarding challenge! In my day, 1957, it was still a grass landing strip. I learned in the Princeton University's Aeronca, an antique by then, but not quite a Jenny!

The New-York tribune., December 02, 1917, Page 3 published a similar photo with the caption: "At the Princeton Aviation School, one of our training camps for modern war eagles, they have two very remarkable mascots - "Spark PIug", a cat, and "Prince of Princeton", a lively police dog. ... The photo to the right shows Instructor Frank Stanton and "Prince" all ready to make a flight. The December 28, 1917 Brooklyn Eagle ran 3 pictures in this series with the caption. "Training American war eagles to fly- at the Princeton Aviation School. The college men training to become aviators are here shown assembling a motor for an airplane. The aviators have to be expert in motor construction. Frank Stanton, flying instructor of Princeton, who is teaching the art of flying to Princeton men. Mascot...Prince, the police dog, amusing students between, flight and Spark Plug, the cat mascot, an interested onlooker. Was at Princeton at least until June 1919, but may not have been continuously there. Had a bad accident with Denny Holden (later an ace with 95th Aero Sq.) when they ran into the telegraph lines at the border of the field at Princeton. The plane was completely destroyed - they were unhurt !
