I wish food today came in glass cans!!

I don't have a garden to produce vegetables for canning, but I do can chicken stock or beef stock. Home canning is not as widespread as it used to be, but it's still common enough that my local large drugstore carries canning supplies.

My mom and dad used to stay up very late at night canning food from our garden. This was after a full days work. They used an old pressure cooker to seal the jars. The results were delicious.

This looks like a normal stack of preserves from my Georgia Grand parents basement shelves in the 1950's (but they had more Peaches and watermelon)

Per the Sydney Mail the pic was taken at F.C. The photo was probably taken on Lebreton Flats, the centre of the lumbering industry in Ottawa and the major employer, even after the federal capital was established in Ottawa. It was called Bytown after Lt-Col John By who was in charge of the construction of the Rideau Canal from Ottawa to Kingston.

I've been in several docks over the years and have never seen timber stacked so neatly and with that roof effect to shed water in the event of rain. The cleanest and tidiest docks I have ever seen! Well done Belfast:-)

In the 1895 Belfast and Province of Ulster directory, Robinson, Hill & Co are ship smiths at Dufferin Road and 10 Garmoyle Street. streetdirectories.proni.gov.uk/media/ziqr6gQOaZANJu0xstjp...

I am not sure whether this is Dufferin Road or Garmoyle street. They run either side of a dock, but I can not work out where this is as we are looking at Cave Hill, which is north of the docks, and the orientation of the dock is SW to NE.
