Just one more job that is no longer necessary. They had to spin thread or yarn, weave the cloth, make the garment and then wash, hang it to dry, and iron it until it wore out. Most young women these days never spin, weave, sew, wash, dry, or iron anymore and even if they do, there is a machine that does most of the work. Maybe the good old days have been replaced by something better. The same is true with food. How many cooks begin to prepare a meal by going out back to kill a chicken and then pull some vegetables on the way back to the house?
