    This was one of the pictures that made me want to digitize images from the Visual Instruction Lantern Slide Collection & put them in The Commons! Although, for anyone who has been stuck on the freeway in Marin County, this shot was a close tie for "inspiration." In any case, I happen to think all the pictures in this set are gorgeous!

    actually - this would be better classified as a "spanish" courtyard - the carriageway / loggia / courtyard relationship is typical of the the spanish colonial type of house
