This placemat would be from the early 1970s. My father, Richard Hook was doing contractor work in the area. Norm Morrow contributed a photo of an invoice from my father in 1972 (see Norm and Carol Morrow's album). For electrical and plumbing work my father charged $5.00/hour. Wages for similar work today is 10x that or more.

Hi Jan: You are correct. The building is still there (or maybe just the frame) and is used as a residence. It has been sold at least twice since the McDermott's owned it.

I do remember McDermotts. I know it's a residence now. Also the houses on #7 east of this building used to be owned by MNR until they were declared surplus and sold. So "the corner is different but the same".
