It saddens me to see these old concrete bridges replaced with modern ones. Part of the charm is gone now. They're slowly being replaced thru Stone Mills also

Unknown People, Date

T1he people in this photo are my grandparents, Wilfred Laurier Lessard and Olive Kathleen (Stone) Lessard). This photograph was taken in front of my maternal great-grandparents' general store in the looking north toward the Skootamatta River above the dam in the village of Flinton, c.1925. My great-grandparents were James Halley Stone and Edith May (Sedgewick) Stone. My great-grandparents purchased the store from the original proprietor, E. J. Matthews. When they retired it was sold to and operated by Arthur Carkner (the music teacher at Flinton Continuation School) and his wife Ina Carkner. It was later sold to Doug and Betty (Delyea) Davison (of Davison's Garage) and is where they raised their family in the 1960s and 1970s.
