Ironwood ski slide (LOC)

  • Daimon Eklund said:
Seems likely this is in Ironwood, Michigan, which now has one of the largest ski slides in the Western Hemisphere. According to this article, though, the first jump was built around 1930: hunts-upguide.com/bessemer_copper_peak_ski_flying_hill.html

If this pic was from 1930, it would make it one of the very latest in the Bain collection. Certainly possible. One clue may be this, from significant dates in Ironwood, Mi. history: Feb. 14, 1913 - National Ski Jumping Tournament held on White's Hill north of town. A world record of 169 feet established. (ref. mattsonworks.com/1912/1912keydates.html )

I'm sure the hat is enchanted... There seems to be little to no snow and there is a trampoline or net that he seems to be jumping into? Is this a sport?
