NYTimes for October 26, 1912 describes how the "Turks Abandon Uskub, victorious Servians Take Possession of the Imporant Stronghold." From Wikipedia article: "The Ottomans were shortly expelled from the city in August 12, 1912 by the local Slavic population. Several months later the city was captured by the Serbs at the beginning of First Balkan War." According to Wikipedia: "In 1912, the name was officially changed from Uskub (the Turkish name for Skopje) to Skoplie. Skopje is the capital and largest city of Macedonia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skopje

Looks like Ivan Rafael Rodic, who had the church name (I'm not sure of the ecclesiastical term for the name change) of Archbishop Giovanni Raffaele Rodic, O.F.M. † See his history here, which includes Archbishop of Belgrade: www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/brodic.html and here; www.geocities.com/capitolhill/rotunda/2209/Catholic_Yugos... He was appointed Archbishop on 29 october, 1924, so this photo would be dated after that.

He left Saloniki with ten American nurses for Marseilles on board Sir Thomas Lipton's steam yacht Erin and called at Malta on the way...." The article goes on to quote Dr. Hodge about typhus in Serbia. The Bain photo looks like it was taken on shipboard.
