US Navy NAF H-16 (BuNo A-1070) flying boat at Rockaway Beach Naval Air Station. Note the gas holder used to store hydrogen gas used as lifting gas for Navy airships and observation balloons at Rockaway NAS. This gas holder would be the site of some grief on May 5, 1919, when an aircraft based at Rockaway NAS would crash into it, resulting in the deaths of Ens. Hugh J. The Pensacola journal., March 16, 1919, SECOND SECTION, Page 17, top left chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn87062268/1919-03-16/ed-... reported that a flight arranged by Lieut. W. L.
