The place on the photo is indeed Tonsaasen Sanatorium, in Etnedal Municipality in Valdres area and Oppland fylke (county). The Swedish photographer Axel Lindahl (1841-1906) was contemporary with Carl Curman: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axel_Lindahl
I wonder if they met and discussed photography?

A shabbily dressed man probably exhausted from working at a sweatshop. He no doubt lived in a crowded tenement, so he's better off resting on a park bench.

Bearded young Jewish worker napping. Definitely a fave. I just wish the Yom Kippur collection this came from had a lot more candid photos like this.
