USS Baltimore (C-3 / CM-1) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Baltimore_(C-3) USS Balitimore had a long and varied career while in service with the United States Navy. She was even present at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, in her role as a receiving ship during the surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN). She would eventually be towed out to sea northwest of Oahu and scuttled in the area of the Musicians Seamounts on September 22, 1944. Recently discovered at about 600 meters (1,970 feet) depth, Baltimore was found upright and intact on the flat sandy bottom.
