When they left San Diego, three former employees created a company they called Ryan Mechanics in Los Angeles which later changed its name to Federal Aircraft Corp and moved to San Bernardino. If you look closely on the fin, you can read Federal quite clearly. Stig

    an early cruiser of the new navy of the united states, which started in the mid 1880s. baltimore was a high sided ship, unlike most of the earlier steel new navy ships that resembled wooden and iron sailing ships. the baltimore was the second largest ship and in line of battle with Commodore Dewey at the battle of mainla bay in may of 1898. She was even present as a former recieving ship at pearl harbor on the morning of Dec 7th 1941, and can be seen in the disance in a few photos of the damaged ships in port..
