The Temple Emanu-el's timeline www.emanuelnyc.org/timeline.php indicates that this would be a temple at 43rd St and Fifth Avenue, built in 1868 and used until 1927. See daytoninmanhattan.blogspot.com/2012/03/lost-1868-temple-e... for more about the building, including its demolition.

Emilie Bigelow Hapgood was the daughter of Anson Bigelow, a Chicago banker. During WWI, she was president of the Stage Society, and in 1917 the founder and leader of the "Circle of Negro War Relief" The Hapgoods married in 1896, divorced in 1915. They had a daughter, Ruth.
