This is not the Rt. 1 bridge. This was the "Iron Bridge" that was part of VA 123. It was replaced with a temporary wooden bridge erected by the Army and then replaced with the present bridge several years later.

Thank you all for clarifying it was not the Rt. 1 bridge! I remember this incident from about 1971 and Hurricane Agnes, Someone tried to convince me it was Rt. 1, but I lived in Woodbridge at the time and was evacuated - twice. We used to travel this route to Manassas.

Today, this is a pedestrian bridge crossing the Occoquan on the West side of the Town of Occoquan, just downstream from the Occoquan damn, connecting Old Ox Rd to the town. The Rt 1 South bridge, downstream from here, fell during Agnes, whereas the 123 bridge collapsed due to the flood.

I remember walking from the Capitol, to the Lincoln Memorial, across this bridge, to Arlington Cemetery. That was one loooong walk. That was one LOOOONG bridge. It think it took us 20 minutes just to cross the bridge on foot. Very nice shot, though.
