  Fred Merkle of what might be baseball's most infamous play, Merkle's Boner - which the poor lad was never able to live down, despite a long and successful career otherwise.

  If that's really the World Series, it's probably Philadelphia catcher Ira Thomas. (Their other catcher at the time, Jack Lapp, was a smaller man.) But that's a pretty light crowd for a World Series game, wouldn't you say?
