It proves that the yards were very much up to date with equipment and skills at the time. A unique picture this and one I've not seen before. It reminds me of the photo series of Doxford Engines before closure. If you'd like I could link directly to here??

I don't mean to be flippant but it seems as if hats were compulsory ! I would have thought that hair colour etc would have been a factor in identifying the person, and they might have been asked to remove them. Interesting to see how hairstyles would have looked without them... Many thanks for making these images and research available.
