    JimNtexas: Can you say a little more about why you think it's oil rather than fuel? Is it because of where they are on the plane? The type of hose he's using? Or...? Thanks!

    Barbara, those big radial engines would hold up to fifty gallons of oil, and they used a lot of oil every hour of operation. It'd be tire some to fill it a quart at time. These motors were 'dry sump', with a separate oil tank usually located behind the engine itself. That would not be a good place for a fuel cap, because it's so close to the very hot engine.
