This picture is really interesting, On the first look I had no idea what was going on. After looking at it later I relieved that it was 2 people twisted up.

Emil Klank was a wrestler and then a manager. He also produced and played in a touring production of 'All About A Bout.' The play starred Frank Gotch, a champion wrestler for whom Klank was manager. Finding another of the Bain photos with push-pins, I found myself wondering when the push-pin was invented. The answer is that the patent was filed in 1899 and granted in 1900. See www.google.com/patents?id=pT5TAAAAEBAJ and www.push-pin.com/mpphist1.html Interestingly, the inventor's "first big deal was a sale of $1,000 worth of push pins to the Eastman Kodak Company." So they were for use by photographers. The patent emphasizes that they are of material that will not corrode in the presence of fluids used for developing negatives. I assume these have glass heads.
