Since Hurley's photos taken this expedition include photos of Royal Penguins, whose only breeding colony is on Macquarie Island in the sub-Antarctic well south of New Zealand, I think it likely that this fine King Penguin photo was taken on Macquarie as well. King Penguins do not occur in or around the Antarctic continent itself, but include Macquarie among their wide-ranging breeding islands.
