Strangely enough, the caption typed on to this photo is incorrect. This is the wreckage of TWA Douglas DC-3 (DC-3B-202), NC17315 (c/n 1930), which crashed in St. Louis, Missouri on January 23, 1941. See: aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=19410123-0 The two TWA Douglas DC-2 airliners crashed in Pennsylvania in 1937, one registered NC13730 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWA_Flight_15A) and the other registered NC13721 (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TWA_Flight_1). Neither is captured in the photo above.

Cliff Henderson and his Cord L-29 in front of the then-new St. Louis Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, where the 1930 International Aircraft Show was taking place. St. Louis Arena would be demolished via controlled explosive implosion on February 27, 1999. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_Arena
