This photo was used in American Military Vehicles of World War I, by Albert Mroz, with the caption: "Carrying a squad of soldiers this 1916 Riker traveled 93 miles from El Paso to Columbus, New Mexico, and had its special wheel flanges removed to be driven into town with media cameras rolling."

Since March 19, 1914 Norhtern Division comanded by Francisco Villa, approached Laguna District by Conejos rail road station, some kilometers north of Gomez Palacio (In fact you can read in American newspapers of those dates, that Gómez Palacio is a suburb of Torreón [which is not. It's a city in Durango State just separated from Torreón by Nazas River]). The artillery was used to shell heavily that city between days 28th and 30th. So "near Torreón" means that the cannon is located in the northern outskirts of Gómez Palacio, unless the photo was taken between March 31st and April 1st, the the gun is in the southern outskirts of Gómez Palacio, facing towards Torreón, by Nazas River which in that district is the divisory line between both cities and the States of Coahuila and Durango.
