This picture couldn't have been taken in the year 1912. He's standing in the Polo Grounds. As you can see — this particular incarnation of the Polo Grounds (the one shown in the background of this very photo) burned down on April 14, 1911. Considering that happened only two games into the 1911 season, and those two games were both played against the Philadelphia Phillies (not the St. Louis Cardinals), this image was either taken in 1909 or 1910.
