1937 – Ceremonial frame in Silver Ash, carved with Queensland scenery and the words of the poem written by Mabel Forrest to celebrate the opening of Brisbane City Hall. The frame was commissioned by the Queensland Authors and Artists Association. The frame was designed by Ed Rosenstengel who developed a unique style through his own interpretation of period designs. Every piece that Rosenstengel sold was designed by him, and being meticulous about quality, every piece also received his personal inspection. Ed Rosenstengel regularly customized or reinterpreted the design of showroom items through discussions with his clients and his display rooms would have assisted his customers in visualizing their furniture prior to purchase. By all accounts Ed Rosenstengel was a quiet unassuming man, and during his brief retirement he was finally able to lead an unhurried life furthering his studies of 18th century furniture and decorative arts, whilst enjoying the wonderful furniture, silverware and ceramics that. Just looking at the state of construction of the Harbour Bridge at Dawes Point, the year has to be 1928...my guess is they might be attaching the stubs of the lower chord to the end bearings...which took place prior to the erection of the end posts... trove.nla.gov.au/work/185554859 - this NLA Fairfax pic looks to have been taken at a later stage of construction...it shows the SW end post at Dawes Point being positioned...in ca. late October/early November 1928... trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/158404067 - Sydney Mail, 14th November, 1928...see pic bottom rhs...this pic shows how things looked in early/mid November 1928...again, it's later than the SLNSW Milton Kent pic... ? slightly later www.flickr.com/photos/statelibraryofnsw/44724952382/
